yes, i did it. i went to the Jonas Brothers concert in Bilbao last night! ill admit that they are my guilty pleasure and it was worth every penny!! i went with kimberly and emily and we had a BLAST!!! one of my personal highlights was when big rob came out and rapped with them in burin' up! ok, enough said. i dont want yall to think im too insane. enjoy the pics!

historic sites and hail

so the most bizarre thing about this week/weekend has been the weather. it has been rainy all week which is a bummer, but i can deal with that. yesterday there was a huge hail storm when we were in Guernica, which for a few minutes, turned the street white like snow, (more about that later) and then this morning we opened our shutters to yet another hail storm. it wasnt like any hail storm i have ever seen. at first glance it looked like rain, it was coming down so fast. when you looked off into the distance you realized it was extremely dense and made it hard to see in front of you. it was intensified because it would come barreling around the sides of tall buildings adding to the noises and visuals. when the hail subsided and huge lightning bolt struck (at first i thought it was Amanda taking a picture on her camera), but when the ground shaking thunder rumbled i knew otherwise. i was expecting a terenchal downpour, but one never came, and now its sunny! but it is supposed to rain for like the next week so im not going to get too excited about the brief sunshine! i shot a video of a little bit of the hail storm but im not sure if it really does it justice.

yesterday we had our final excursion of the semester to Guernica. Guernica is the city where the parliament of Biscay is located; it is also where the Lenhendakari (president of the

Basque country) takes his oath. It is most famous for the painting that Picasso did of it after it was bombed by German planes in 1937 by the order of Franco. It was a monday, market day, when the city was full of people buying and selling goods. Almost 2,000 civilians were killed and the entire city was destroyed, but the Biscayan assembly and the Oak of Guernica survived the attack, making the Oak tree a symbol for the town. The original oak tree is now preserved under a gazebo like structure. I fall more in love with the countryside around this area. I love all of the traditional Basque houses that are built into the mountains. they look so peaceful and secluded. We got to see a lot scenery on the bus ride as well as some coastal views.

dorm delicacies

yay this week i was able to check a 6page group paper off my list! its not as easy to write a paper in a group as you would think. other than that school was pretty uneventful. next week is a low-key week and then from there it gets super busy. i bought tickets to the jonas brothers concert for next week! im not going to lie, im excited. im going with kimberly and emily and i cannot wait!!! so i am mainly writing to share a picture of some of the delicious food we are served here at the dorm. rachel has been documenting our meals and this picture wins hands down for the grossest of the week. enjoy!

so thursday we went to the eramus party at the loft. it was fun but crowded!

i managed to only get out of bed twice the entire day on friday. once was to get a package that came for me from Brent! and the other was to eat lunch. i spent

the day napping and catching up on some shows. it was nice ;)

we decided to go for Chinese food on friday night at this place we always pass on the way to school. it was a nice break from the dorm food (which I decided to photograph so you can see what we have to eat). after rachel and i went to see Michael Jackson's "This Is It." All i have to say is that i thought it was incredible.

halloween was fun. lets just say they arent as enthusiastic about halloween here in spain. once again i spent the whole day being lazy. we all got sort-of-dressed up and hung out in the dorm before briefly going out to casco viejo. needless to say there were many stares in our direction when people saw our makeshift costumes. i took a pumpkin my mom sent me and attached it to a headband! it was nice to eat candy and try and make the holiday feel as homey as possible. i was pretty proud of our decorations though!

i am on the mend! i feel so much better than i did a few days ago! im still really tired and have a cough but other than that i cant complain. the rest of my weekend was low key. saturday i went to a market in Algorta with Amanda, Astrid, and Rachel. It was underground and full of vendors who sold everything from clothes to rugs! i was pretty beat from our excursion so i napped for a while! astrid and i went to church on sunday and then i spent the rest of the day doing laundry and homework. amanda and i made a candy run (those are necessary sometimes).

this is kind of a busy week. i have two tests on thursday and a big group project/paper due next week which our group hasnt really started ha. im pretty excited about halloween this weekend even though i dont know what im going to be yet or what the plans are but after being bed-ridden last weekend, im determined to have a good time!

also, WHO DAT the Saints are 6-0!

being sick is no fun

so i went to the doctor on thursday and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. all i know is i feel awful - achy, bad cough, can't sleep and when i do finally sleep i wake up in a cold sweat. last night my feet and hands felt like they were on fire. i was afraid anything i touched would go up in flames. ok so i know yall dont want to know all of the details. i am now equipped with cough syrup, nyquil, and ibuprofen. ive pretty much been in bed all day today and yesterday. i start to feel better but when my meds start to wear off im back to square one. blah its not fun. my friends are taking good care of me though, especially my roommate Amanda. Shes a trooper for putting up with me. once again, God sent me an angel in the form of the same cook from the other night. she asked if i was feeling better and i told her no but i had medicine. she then made me a glass of hot milk with honey. she said to drink it and it would help me fall asleep. she is the sweetest! she also re-stocked my supply of tea bags! hopefully ill feel better soon because we are supposed to go to a market tomorrow!
